Model Train Courier „Digital 2027“ (Issue 60) will be published on October 30th

How can model railway operation be made varied and practically applicable? The „Bachbahn“ model railway demonstrates this: Here, locomotives are driven instead of using a PC control system. Under the motto „Fit for Fun“, the focus is also on preparing for the new season – with tips on updates, current trends in digital technology, and vehicle maintenance.

Current solutions for system control are in focus: from the ABC 2 braking module from Tams with switching function to the YaMoRCs new rotary disk control system, to updates and track layouts in the Uhlenbrock IB-Control 3. The long-awaited WLAN Daisy is also being examined closely. The new garden railway digital system and the USB Smart Programmer from Piko are also presented for the large track widths.

In addition, there are practical solutions for beginners and advanced users: expansion options for entry-level systems, the introduction to PC control for automated operation, and „Clever Train Control“ for track N. With Arduino, a speed measurement system is created; Viessmann’s CarMotion system is presented with new switches and a test board. The overview is complemented by adapter boards for locomotive decoders and current developments in RailCom.
