Conversion of the 218 Series – Part 3

In Issue 36, we upgraded the editorial office's machines with new electronics. Our oldest, 218 126-1, didn't even have sound on board, let alone a smoke generator.

Here we provide the wiring diagram and screenshots from the ESU Lokprogrammer software, which were only shown small in the booklet due to space constraints.

We wish you lots of joy and success with it!

We have opted for the sound of the TB11 engine from MTU, which is also installed in the original, at 218 126-1.
As the locomotive is also to be used in the FREMO, it has been assigned a long address, which is partly composed of specifications. It can now only react to DCC commands, which is not a problem given this background.
The connections were made according to the wiring plan. However, the name for the connection is only saved in the project on the computer and not transferred to the decoder. Therefore, it can no longer be read out.
Brake function 1 has been configured as a dynamic brake, similar to the brake button on the remote controllers. This way, the locomotive remains in a holding position, even if the controller is accidentally turned up.
