The 210 and 218 series

Who doesn't know them? The two locomotives from the V160 family. The 210, with its additional helicopter gas turbine to increase performance. How they conquered the routes of the Allgäu railway between Munich and Lindau on Lake Constance. Or the 218, which even as a tender child gave our editor the irrepressible desire to become an engine driver in later life and drive it... How it roared over the ramp with ore and coal trains from Nuremberg to Sulzbach-Rosenberg Hütte so that the blast furnaces of the Maxhütte steelworks did not have to stand still...

Unfortunately, those days are over, but the 218 is still in service. So are some 210s, but they were renumbered as 218.9 after the gas turbine was dismantled due to the severe damage sustained during operation.

When the hand sample of the 218 was ready to be photographed in our editorial office, these feelings returned for a short time, which is due to this really successful model.

Now we would not like to withhold a selection of these beautiful models from our readers and those interested in the still lively scene of gauge 1 enthusiasts. The photos are unedited and unadorned, as they were taken during production in Asia.
