In issues 20 and 21, the report on the construction of our narrow platform appeared, which has occasionally served us as a photo diorama ever since. It was equipped with some typical attributes. Seating is indispensable for passengers. Suitable benches are available; however, I had a very specific design in mind, which has existed or existed at least since the early 1960s. The original seems to no longer be available anywhere. The search for pictures also yielded little.
The construction of this bench is simple. It consists merely of two identical precast concrete parts and the five planks attached to them for the seat and backrest. The main focus was on reproducing the typical shape of the concrete parts. The drawing for laser-cutting these from MDF was created by my wife.
Back to the subject of this post: a small series was produced with some samples in different states and colours – enough to offer some variety on the platform. This covered our own needs, and the drawing could have disappeared into the archive, unused in the future. However, the idea then arose to make the bank an add-on for subscribers. For this, only a drawing for laser cutting the five planks still needed to be made, as we had cut them by hand up until then. The add-on for subscribers then consisted of two of these kits each.
