Spur 01 Modellbahnen ceases operations

Frank Elze is stepping down completely for health reasons. However, there is good news for those who have pre-ordered three Gauge 1 carriage projects: BMB/Bee’s Modellbahn is continuing the designs.

Following another hospital stay, Frank Elze will announce today the difficult decision he has made to close down his company, Spur 01 Modellbahnen. With this, Elze is making a definitive and complete withdrawal from the model railway industry – affecting his activities in both O gauge and Gauge 1.

Continuation of the track 1 projects secured

However, for collectors and model railway enthusiasts who had already ordered vehicles from Spur 01 Modellbahnen, the news also brings a sense of relief: Tom Steiner from BMB / Bee’s Modellbahn has agreed to take over and complete three key Track 1 projects:

  • The E36 class express train coaches
  • The Bci branch-line carriages
  • The Krupp tank wagons

Through this acquisition, Tom Steiner ensures that the work was not in vain and that the purchasers of the respective models will have them built and delivered as planned. The Class 628 railcar project, on the other hand, will not be pursued further due to a lack of interest.

Thanks and get well wishes

The withdrawal of Frank Elze leaves a gap in the large-scale model railway scene. We thank Frank Elze for his dedicated work over recent years and wish him good health and all the best for the future.
