This message has nothing to do with the Lane 1 initiative, but we want to publish it on our website anyway due to the good cause.
The manufacturer from Göppingen auctioned off an exclusive, one-off item for a good cause. The RhB unit ABe 4/16 „Capricorn“ in Gauge G was produced with illuminated horns and two middle carriages in the Wacken look and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The auction on the Catawiki platform achieved €12,000 for DKMS, which works worldwide for blood cancer patients and registers stem cell donors. Andrea Autenrieth, Head of Donor Recruitment at DKMS, accepted the cheque in Göppingen.
The auctioned „Devil's Train“ in Gauge G with glowing horns caused a stir at Wacken Open Air 2025, according to Märklin, and was one of the most photographed subjects. The DKMS advertised on the festival grounds with cotton buds for stem cell donors. This led to the idea of having the Devil's Train signed and auctioned for this good cause.
Twenty-five-year-old Philipp Schlampp won the collector's item and took possession of it at the Göppingen main plant from managing director Wolfrad Bächle, who thanked him personally.
The DKMS is a non-profit organisation fighting blood cancer. It registers potential stem cell donors worldwide to improve the chances of patients receiving a life-saving transplant.
