Exactly 14 days ago, we published images of Claudio Pesolillo's E.554 hand-sample and pointed out the event „Tri fase 50“ (Three-phase 50) taking place in Acqui Terme, Italy. This was organised by the Italian FS Foundation and refers to the 50th anniversary of the end of three-phase electric traction.
Mr. Pesolillo has enabled us to obtain some pictures from the Italian photographer Ambrogio Mortarino, which show historic electric locomotives of the Italian State Railways (FS). These included E.431, E.432 and E.626 in their historic paint schemes, as well as the distinctive double electric locomotive E.656, nicknamed „Caimano“.
The images depict railways with a Southern flair. Who wouldn't have wanted to be there?
