M\u00e4rklin has just announced the Swiss double electric locomotive of the Ae 8\/14 series, number 11852. The unique locomotive, built in 1938 and with the wheel arrangement (1A)A1A(A1)+(1A)A1A(A1), was long considered the most powerful electric locomotive in the world. It achieved a continuous output of 7,647 kW and an hourly output of 8,162 kW with a starting tractive effort of 490 kN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For its time, it was built with a new lightweight locomotive body in a very futuristic streamlined design. To prove the capability of the Swiss locomotive industry, it was displayed by the SBB at the National Exhibition in 1939, which is why it was nicknamed the \u201eLandi locomotive\u201c. In 1972, it was taken out of service after a cable fire and has been exhibited, having been restored in 2024, at the new SBB Historic exhibition in Erstfeld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e4rklin is offering the colossal model in a limited edition of 150 units across all variants at a price of \u20ac9,990 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
