A great idea - Part 4

After visiting 92.2271 at the Zwettl local railway club, we made a short detour to Vordernberg to see the Erzbergbahn cogwheel locomotive 297.401 on the station site before returning to Germany. It was the most powerful cogwheel locomotive in the world and was in operation until 1964.

A meeting with Josef Brunner from Mo-Miniatur, the initiator of the Klv 12 project, took place at midday. We then travelled towards Franconia, with another short stop at our editorial office: the VT 95 hand sample that had been photographed in the meantime was picked up again.

It was not until the early evening that Ebermannstadt and the Fränkische Schweiz steam railway (https://www.dampfbahn.net) - the home of the Klv 12 with the small motorised front end that our readers are already familiar with. The guests from China had the opportunity to take a ride in the tiny vehicle. Certainly a memorable event. However, the main aim was to familiarise themselves with this prototype for the 1:32 replica. More on this in issue 32, pages 33ff and two videos from 14 and 16 March 2025 here in the blog section.

It wasn't until the next day that there was a larger group meeting. The tour group met up with the Elze family, owners of the company Spur 01 Modellbahnen from Mülheim. It was about much more than just getting to know each other. The progress of several ongoing or long-announced projects had to be discussed and ultimately decided. We will report on the results relevant to gauge 1 railway enthusiasts in the News section in due course.

A short detour took the tour group to Vordernberg station on the ore railway to see the 297.401 cogwheel locomotive.

The Fränkische Schweiz steam railway (DFS) was only reached in the early evening. The main attraction here was the operational Klv 12 with the small bonnet.

The guests did not miss out on the offer of a lift. They obviously enjoyed it.

The following day there was plenty to talk about in a large group: the tour group met with the Elze family from the 01-gauge model railway while enjoying the best views of the countryside.
